Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has withdrawn from Pro Badminton League Season 5, blaming her injury-prone season and pancreatitis for not participating in the tournament.

Admitting that she has not stayed fit for the most part of the year, Saina announced her withdrawal in a tweet, saying, “Hey everyone, I won’t be part of the PBL Season 5. I haven’t been well most part of the year due to pancreatitis and injuries and I would like to take time during the PBL to prepare better.”

“I want to say sorry to all my fans and I hope to be part of the next season of PBL,” she added.

World number 9 Saina, who has made early exits in a series of tournaments recently, also skipped Korea Masters World Tour Super 300 tournament this week.

She is, however, likely to feature at the Syed Modi International World Tour Super 300 in Lucknow next week.
