Indian shuttler HS Prannoy entered into top ten in recently released BWF World rankings. Prannoy, who was crowned the new national champion, gained a place to move into the tenth spot. The shuttler has been consistent with his form and made it to the semifinals of Indonesia Open and French Open.
While Prannoy moved a place up in the rankings, Kidambi Srikanth who has been in top form this year having won four Super Series titles and making appearances in five finals, retained his career best spot at number two. Srikanth’s fourth title came after he brushed aside the challenge of Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in straight games to win the French Open Super Series men’s singles title in Paris this year. B Sai Praneeth though slipped one spot to be placed at 16th.
Sameer Verma has missed some of the tournaments recently due to fitness issues and was out of the top 20 while Ajay Jayaram too slipped to 23rd place in the standings. Jayaram is recovering from a knee issue.
In women’s singles rankings, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal retained their places. Sindhu is placed at second while Nehwal is at 11. In women’s doubles, Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy moved a spot up to be placed at number 24. While women’s doubles pair moved a spot up, mixed doubles pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy dropped to a spot down to be ranked at 17th in their category.
