Singer Sanam Puri, whose rendition of Ishq bulaava in Hasee Toh Phasee won him a lot of appreciation, has been roped in by Sony music to compose and sing a promotional Hindi song for The Amazing Spiderman 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx and Emma Stone. The film, which is also dubbed in Hindi, will be promoted in India on a decent scale and this song is just one aspect of its marketing strategy. Confirming the news, Puri told Screen, “The brief given to me was that Spiderman will be fighting it out with some of the toughest enemies ever. So, this is his biggest fight. We created an anthem sort of a track, lines of which go as – Main hoon, main hoon woh aag jo kabhi bhuje na, which inspires people to go out there and fight things out. It has this whole raring to go kind of a vibe.”
The song has been composed and sung by Puri, while the lyrics have been penned by Manoj Yadav, who has worked on a few songs on Coke Studio, and Puri’s brother, Samar. “The song is written in a way so that it connects to the Indian audience and motivates them to do something,” adds Puri. A promotional video has also been shot for the song, which will feature Puri’s band called Sanam and will go on air by the end of this week. Apart from this project, the singer is also working on the band’s next original composition, which is slated to come out by next month.

Detective tunes

The music album of producer Kavita Barjatya’s detective drama, Samrat & Co, was launched at Infiniti Mall last week. The album that brings back Aashiqui 2’s musical duo, Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari, was launched with the cast and crew present at the venue. The musical evening began with Sharma and Tiwari belting out a few numbers from the film. Actors Rajeev Khandelwal and Madalsa Sharma, who play the lead in the film, joined choreographer Ganesh Acharya to shake a leg on the stage on a party number called Tequila Waquila. “The music of the film will be quite different from the usual genres explored under the Rajshri banner. Both Mithoon and Ankit have created unique tunes that touch the theme of the film quite perfectly,” stated Barjatya. Director Kaushik Ghatak mentioned that although it is not essentially a song and dance film, music is an integral part. The film is scheduled to release on April 25.

Folk and sufi singer Rajnigandha Shekhawat was spotted performing at the Music Mania concert organised by Bina Aziz, in collaboration with Artist Aloud. The artist belted out several numbers, including Chhap tilak by Amir Khusro and Piya ghar aaye by Baba Bulleh Shah, at the event. The concert is a brain child of artists Talat Aziz, wife Bina, Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas and Bhajan singer Anup Jalota and aims at giving budding artists a platform to display their talent.
