Oppam quick movie review: Given that the director Priyadarshan brings his flair to the film, this Mohanlal-starrer is not dark or menacing.

When one says Priyadarshan, the first thought that comes to your mind if comedy. The director may have proved his mettle in many genres but it is comedy that he is considered the master of. The filmmaker is, however, ready to shift gears with Oppam that stars Mohanlal.

The actor par excellence and the director have come together to give people a crime thriller. Mohanlal plays a blind man in Oppam who finds himself embroiled in a crime. Being innocent, how he finds the culprit and clears his name forms the crux of the story.

The Malayalam crime thriller also stars Samuthirakani, Vimala Raman, Anusree, Nedumudi Venu, Mamukkoya, and Arjun Nandhakumar. Directed by Antony Perumbavoor, the film has earned accolades for its music. Its Minungum Minnaminuge is already being described as heart touching.

Given that the director Priyadarshan brings his flair to the film, it is not dark or menacing. He keeps the fun element intact keeping his targeted audience in mind.

As it releases at box office on Onam, Oppam is faced with serious competition. The Mohanlal film is clashing with Prithviraj-starrer revenge drama, Oozham. The film will also go head-to-head with Iru Mugan which stars Chiyaan Vikram in double roles. The film was likely to release on September 1 but got delayed due to production issues.
