With the unveiling of a new range of RE three-wheelers on Thursday,Bajaj Auto re-consolidated its presence in the segment once again. According to RC Maheshwari,President,Commercial Vehicles, the company has 85 per cent market share in the three-wheeler segment.
Addressing the media,Rajiv Bajaj,Managing Director,Bajaj Auto, said the decision to go for reinventing the autorickshaw was based on impending demands from various markets.

The company said the reinvention, which resulted in the launch of RE Compact autorickshaws, would benefit customers in terms of fuel efficiency. The vehicle would be 10-15 per cent more fuel efficient and would require lesser maintenance cost. The vehicles would require changing of oil after every 10,000 km as against the present 5,000 km.
Due to the changes in the ergonomics, the vehicle would be more comfortable for passengers. The company would take six months to roll out the vehicles in all the markets.
