Former Telangana minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao is set to appear before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Formula E race scam on Thursday, a day after he withdrew his plea, seeking the quashing of the FIR in the case, from the Supreme Court.

KTR was quizzed for seven hours by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on 9 January in connection with the case.

The ED had initially sent a notice to KTR to appear before it on January 7. However, after the Telangana High Court dismissed his plea seeking quashing of the FIR, the agency sent a second notice to the BRS leader.

The ED has already interrogated former urban development (MAUD) secretary Arvind Kumar and former chief engineer of HMDA, B L N Reddy in connection with the case.

The case relates to the transfer of Rs 55 crore to the organisers of the Formula E race by the BRS government without following procedures when. The race was subsequently cancelled by the Congress government and an FIR was filed against KTR and the two bureaucrats.

V K Singh to take oath as Mizoram Governor

Former army chief General (retd) V K Singh will take oath as the 25th Governor of Mizoram on Thursday, an official said. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Raj Bhavan at 11 am, he said.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, his Cabinet colleagues, Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Deputy Speaker Lalfamkima and MPs will attend the programme, he said.

Singh will be administered the oath of office and secrecy by Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi, the official said.

Singh arrived in Aizawl on Wednesday. On his way to Mizoram, Singh visited Kamakhya temple in Assam’s Guwahati and offered prayers to Maa Kamakhya, seeking her divine blessings and guidance to serve the people of Mizoram with dedication, humility and integrity, the official said.

Revanth in Delhi, to begin Singapore trip

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will address a press conference in Delhi on Thursday along with Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav.

He then proceed to Singapore where he will be holding discussions with various firms on investments into Telangana and also possible tie ups for the proposed Skill University, an official release said.

Revanth along with his Cabinet colleague D Sridhar Babu and senior officials will leave for Davos in Switzerland to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting from January 20 to 22.

AAP protest against BJP over ‘abuse’ of MLA

AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday claimed that his party MLA Rituraj Jha was “abused” on a national news channel by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla and said that the party would stage a protest in this regard across Delhi on Thursday.

“Jha, who is a Maithil Brahmin, was abused on a national news channel on Tuesday by the BJP spokesperson. I want to ask BJP MP Manoj Tiwari that a Maithil Brahmin MLA has been abused…Where are you? Why are you not saying anything?” Singh said at a press conference here.

“We will protest on Thursday across Delhi. My meetings are starting today in Purvanchali areas. I will tell them about this insult. I will also tell them to take revenge this time through the power of their votes,” he added.
