Sharad Yadav: ‘Solution in Bihar’
The Bihar poll verdict will settle the issue of reservation in favour of its beneficiaries permanently, according to JD(U) president Sharad Yadav. It will also provide a solution to the “restlessness” of authors who have been resigning their Sahitya Akademi posts and returning their awards, he said.
“The Bihar election outcome will settle the issue of reservation once and for all,” he told PTI. “It is an opportunity for those who want to save reservation. They just have to cast their vote and reject those who want to remove reservation.”
His comments came days after B R Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Yashwant had taken out a candle march Monday appealing to forces in favour of reservation to back the grand alliance and attacking the RSS for an alleged attempt to end reservation.

About upset authors, Sharad Yadav said, “Bihar is a conscious state. Literature is widely read here and authors are held in high esteem. The conscious state is feeling the pangs of authors. The solution to the restlessness in the country will come from Bihar.”
According to Pappu Yadav, who had defeated Sharad Yadav in the Lok Sabha poll from Madhepura, no alliance in Bihar will get a majority and his support will be crucial to the formation of any government. Sharad Yadav dismissed this. “There is no third front here; the electoral fight in Bihar is a direct one,” Sharad said. “We will have a massive victory in this bipolar contest.”
The JD(U) president, who is camping in Saharsa for the November 5 phase of the polls, said MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is “no factor” either. “Communal polarisation did not happen in Bihar even in the aftermath of the Babri demolition. Whoever tries however hard, voters will not get polarised on communal lines in Bihar,” he said.
Asked if he is confident that the M-Y combination, which was the core strength of Lalu Prasad’s RJD that ruled the state for 15 years, will rally behind the grand alliance of JD(U)-RJD-Congress too, he said, “Not only that, all the poor castes and the conscious among the upper castes are with the grand alliance.” (With PTI inputs)
