Mumbai police chief Satyapal Singh resigns, may join BJP

Sources indicated that Singh is likely to contest the Lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh on Thursday submitted his resignation to Home Minister RR Patil.

The Home Minister late night confirmed to The Indian Express that Singh had resigned.

Sources indicated that Singh is likely to contest the Lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket.

Sources in BJP also confirmed talks are on with Singh, who had met party president Rajnath Singh earlier. BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi had also assessed Singh’s candidature a couple of days ago.
