What prompted your remark in the Lok Sabha that the Congress leadership found derogatory?
What statement have I made? I have not made any derogatory statement. I stand by it. I said rulers are born not just to queens but also to women who do menial jobs. Ram Manohar Lohia said that several times in this Parliament. I also said Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia learn about farmers only from books; they cannot differentiate between genhu and bajra. We know it because we work on the soil. If these people wrapped themselves in wool taken from sheep, like farmers do, they would catch an infection.
The Congress wants you to apologise.
They have not understood me well. Farmers in this country never apologise; they can never be slaves. They should apologise for the abuses they have showered on the government and the prime minister who has the mandate of people. Who gave them the right to chant slogans like “Hosh mein aao”?
Do you agree with BJP leaders that the Congress is using your remark as an excuse to stall proceedings?
It is the biggest farce on democracy. Around 30-35 people rob the rights of 500-plus people. People of this country have sent us to talk about their problems, but the Congress is trying to betray them. So they should apologise. It’s not correct that the party has not supported me. The party has given me full support, but the government has to take care of both sides.
But two ministers have said your comment was not proper.
That’s their view. If it was not proper, let them expunge it from the records. But I stand by my comment. This House runs with rules prepared along the lines of what is there in the House of Commons.
Your remarks, however, stopped you from raising the issues of farmers as the House plunged into chaos, didn’t they?
I will continue talking about farmers’ issue. Nothing can stop me from raising their issues.
