Pulwama widows’ protest plays out in Jaipur with eye on polls

This comes on a day hundreds of BJP leaders and party workers courted arrest in Jaipur as part of the party's protests against the Gehlot government's “insensitivity” towards the widows of those killed Pulwama, and manhandling of BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena.

In what appears to be an effort to undo the damage to his image following continuing protests by widows of three CRPF personnel killed in 2019 Pulwama attack, with the BJP having seized the issue, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday met around a dozen widows of soldiers killed in action at his residence. Some of the women who took part in the meeting called the ongoing protest for jobs for relatives other than the immediate family members as “wrong and against the rules”.
