THE BJP government in Delhi may have found a use for the 6, Flag Staff Road, bungalow it dubbed the ‘Sheesh Mahal’. The Chief Minister’s residence for most of Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure is reportedly being considered as a state guest house.

The alleged extravagant remodelling and renovation of the bungalow by the Kejriwal government had been one of the main lines of attack against the Aam Aadmi Party by the BJP during the Delhi Assembly elections — with the BJP contrasting the expense on it to the AAP’s projection of itself as a party of “the common man”.

A government official said Delhi needs a state guest house for visiting dignitaries. “The city does not have one, unlike other states. Converting the property (6, Flag Staff Road) into such a facility is being contemplated given the area and the location it occupies,” the official said, adding that a final decision is awaited.
