The Rajasthan government joined the austerity bandwagon,banning foreign tours by ministers and officers with immediate effect till June 30 next year. The state had earlier declared drought in its 24 districts.
The order asking authorities to cut the expenditure would be applicable to all government departments,an official spokesman said in Jaipur.
All ministers have been asked to travel only economy class in flights and that too after CMO’s permission. All offices have been asked to cut power bills by ten per cent every month.
Employees seeking transfers will not be paid any allowances. Officers will have to seek prior permission for any official trip to Delhi and there would be a ban on purchase of vehicles,air conditioners,mobile phones,though computers can be purchased. Life saving and essential services are debarred from such restrictions and bans.
Any state government dinner or lunch should get permission from finance department. All inaugurations,stone laying functions and workshops should be observed in a simple way,he said.
A special drive would also be launched for revenue recovery in the villages. Junk and obsolete equipments would be sold out through a special campaign.
