Eleven Bihar ministers are crorepatis, but Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is not on the list.
As part of the annual asset declaration system started by then CM Nitish Kumar four years ago, all Bihar ministers including the chief minister, declared their assets.
While Manjhi has Rs 2.75 lakh in bank and Rs 22,000 cash in hand, his wife has Rs 17000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.77 lakh.
The CM owns five acres of ancestral land valued at Rs 36.99 lakh and a house on 2500 sqft valued at Rs 13 lakh at Gaya’s Mahakar village. Manjhi also has a gun worth Rs 30,000 and a rifle worth Rs 70,000.
Road construction department minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh is the richest minister with declared assets worth over Rs 7 crore. Art and culture minister Vinay Bihari, who does not own any land, is at the bottom of list in terms with assets worth Rs 16.26 lakh. One of ministers, Naushad Alam, owns 10 cows besides other properties.
In the list of crorepati ministers besides Lalan Singh are Sharavan Kumar (Rs 2 crore), Nitish Mishra (Rs 2.33 crore), PK Shahi (Rs 2 crore), Ramai Ram (Rs 1.88 crore), Mahachandra Prasad Singh (Rs 2.97 crore), Damodar Raut (Rs 1.37 crore), Awadhesh Kushwaha (Rs 3.5 crore), Jay Kumar Singh (Rs 2 crore), Bijendra Prasad Yadav (Rs 1 crore) and Vaidyanath Sahni (Rs 1.6 crore).
Most ministers have declared the base value of their landed property.
For example, food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak has shown value of his five katha land at Patna’s Phulwari Sharif as Rs 22.93 lakh. He has declared the same value for a 6500 sqft plot at Lohanipur.
