‘Being sick but still needing to parent’: Single parents talk about their challenges

"You just get on with it. If you get sick, you get sick. The dishes and clothes won't wash themselves and the kids can't take themselves to school," said a single parent.

From working, doing chores to parenting, there is a lot to manage for a single parent. Not to mention how exhausting that can be, to be on their toes constantly without a break. On a Reddit thread, single parents talked about the most difficult thing about raising kids. Here’s what they said:

2. “The hardest part for me is when my son needs me but I am emotionally and physically drained and have to fake it until he’s asleep and I can have a quiet breakdown and reset.” -UnsocialablySocial

3. “Probably this – being sick but still needing to parent. Hiring a babysitter so I can sleep for three hours in the afternoon to try to get over an illness. It felt like the worst choice ever but my kid was climbing the walls and I needed a nap.” -REGreycastle
