Beyonce’s journey into motherhood was not without challenges, which the international sensation recently talked about in an interview.
The Spirit singer spoke to a magazine about how she endured multiple miscarriages before welcoming her daughter Blue Ivy in 2012.
“Having miscarriages taught me that I had to mother myself before I could be a mother to someone else…Then I had Blue, and the quest for my purpose became so much deeper. I died and was reborn in my relationship, and the quest for self became even stronger,” the 38 year-old celeb mom was quoted as saying.
Motherhood also altered her attitude towards success. “I began to search for deeper meaning when life began to teach me lessons I didn’t know I needed…Success looks different to me now. I learned that all pain and loss is in fact a gift,” she said.
Commenting on the stress of balancing parenting and work, she added, “Making sure I am present for my kids —dropping Blue off at school, taking Rumi and Sir to their activities, making time for date nights with my husband and being home in time to have dinner with my family — all while running a company can be challenging…but I think that’s life for any working mom.”
Earlier, the singer’s 2018 Coachella documentary Homecoming also gave us a glimpse of her struggles during pregnancy as she had preeclampsia, characterised by elevated blood pressure and high levels of protein in the urine. The mom, who gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir Carter in 2017, was “swollen” and “had been on bed rest for over a month,” she had revealed in a personal essay for another magazine. This eventually led her to undergo an emergency C-section to deliver her babies.
