One of the significant decisions of the new US government has been the $100 billion Stargate AI initiative. Meanwhile, China is quickly catching up with the US in their bid for AI supremacy by developing cheaper LLMs like QWQ and DeepSeek. These developments are set to transform the global technology landscape.

Like the expansion of the internet and cyber technology, AI’s impact on crime and crime control is inevitable. At the dawn of the 21st century, India addressed the challenges of increasing cybercrime by enacting the Information Technology Act, 2000, and strengthening the skills and knowledge of law enforcement agencies. Today, the country must again rise to the challenge by understanding AI’s implications on crime and security and harnessing its power to strengthen the criminal justice system.
