Tripura Assembly Speaker resigns citing ‘personal reasons’, gets appointed BJP state vice-president

Rebati Mohan Das tendered his resignation before Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, citing “personal reasons”. “They have finally excused me from this position out of annoyance or giving more importance to the job. I thank the government for this,” he said.

Hours after Tripura Assembly Speaker Rebati Mohan Das resigned citing “personal reasons”, he was appointed the BJP’s Tripura vice president on Thursday.

“I have been asking the government for quite some time to excuse me from this post. I am a person of organisation; maintaining this huge position is tough for me,” Das later told reporters, after his appointment.

Das tendered his resignation before Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, citing “personal reasons”. “They have finally excused me from this position out of annoyance or giving more importance to the job. I thank the government for this,” he said.
