Bamboo used for making flutes which are played by music maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is sourced from Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said on Friday. “The bamboo variety used to make flutes which are played by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is sent from north and Dhalai districts of Tripura,” he said.
While addressing an event on the sidelines of the launch of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Support and Outreach Programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital, the CM spoke about the varieties of bamboo produced in the state. “I believe that bamboo-based projects, which are operational in Tripura, are very important. Tripura was the first state in the country to have launched the Bamboo Mission,” he said.
Stating that India loses Rs 1 lakh crore to bamboo imports from different countries every year, the CM said, “The BJP-IPFT government in Tripura has decided to save this amount by planting bamboos in 2,500 hectares of land across the state.”
Deb also accused the former Left government of failing to popularize its schemes and activities among the people, due to which the schemes proved to be unsuccessful.
The CM encouraged people to develop new ideas and explore marketable themes and concepts.
