A complaint was registered against a facebook user Rajib Dey for allegedly making ‘indecent’ post involving Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, police said Tuesday.
“An obscene and indecent cartoon was posted by a Facebook user named Rajib Dey involving Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. The post was later taken down from the user’s account. However, we have registered a complaint against him”, West Tripura Superintendent of Police Ajit Pratap Singh told reporters.
The complaint was registered under IT Act at West Agartala Police Station. The police is still trying to figure out if the post was made from a genuine account or a fake Facebook account.
“We are conducting an investigation on the issue. Nobody has been arrested till now”, the SP informed.
On October 06, a team of Kolkata Police arrested a man from Ambassa in Dhalai district for allegedly posting “derogatory” remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Facebook. He was later flown to Kolkata after obtaining a transit remand from a local court.
Earlier on August 21, photoshopped images of former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Rose Valley Group chairman Goutam Kundu were uploaded on Facebook. The images came with a rider which said “two thieves on the streets of Agartala in the garb of beggars’, indicating Sarkar’s hand in the chit fund scam. The same Facebook user also used photoshopped images of Sarkar and Pradesh Congress president Birajit Sinha accusing their hands in political murders. However, the user could not be arrested.
