The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) Isaac-Muivah faction Monday appointed Qhehezu Tuccu as the new chairman of the outfit.
A statement issued by NSCN said that the appointment was held during its National Hoho at the outfit’s headquarter, camp Hebron at Dimapur, Nagaland. The outfit also appointed Tongmeth Wangnao as the vice chairman during the national, it said.
Th. Muivah, Ato-Kilonser (Prime Minister) pronounced the declaration of the election of Qhehezu Tuccu and Wangnao who will moreover hold the positions of president and vice-president of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) for a term of 6 years, stated the outfit.
Members of the house were happy after the declaration of the appointments as the post of chairman and vice-chairman had been lying vacant after the demise of the outfit’s chairman late Isak Chishi Swu and late Gen (Retd.) Kholi vice chairman for a long time.
Isaac Chishi Swu, who is instrumental in the creation of NSCN along with Th. Muivah and SS Khaplang, died on June 28, 2016, in a hospital in Delhi after battling a prolonged illness. Since then, the chairman post of the outfit lay unfilled.
Tuccu who hails from Nihoto village, Dimapur of UT was born on February 20, 1945, and joined the outfit in the year 1980.
Th. Muivah who is also the general secretary of the outfit, during the occasion asked the members to take a strong stand to adhere to the principle followed by former chairman late Isak Chishi Swu, who declared unity of the Nagas in the name of Jesus Christ, it said.
