Indian Express launches ‘Pack One for Pintu’ campaign to bridge gap between food surplus and scarcity

Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Zepto, and Big Basket food delivery riders are part of the system and have the authority to drop off canceled orders or extra food at specified pickup locations.

Pack one for Pintu'Pack one for Pintu' campaign began with a powerful movie that tells the story of Pintu's trip and draws attention to the larger problem of hunger.

Hunger is still a serious problem in a nation where 74 million tonnes of food are wasted annually and over 3,000 children tragically die from malnutrition every day. With an aim to close the gap between people in dire need of food and others who have excess of it, The Indian Express, in collaboration with the Robin Hood Army, launched ‘Pack One for Pintu’.

Pintu, a courageous little youngster who represents unshakable hope despite his challenging life as a homeless child, is at the center of this initiative. Pintu’s story serves as a powerful reminder of how urgent it is to end hunger.

In order to increase awareness and encourage community involvement, it is more than just a project. It began with a powerful movie that tells the story of Pintu’s trip and draws attention to the larger problem of hunger. Through branded collection bins and explicit donation instructions, the program promotes community involvement. It is bolstered by a strong social media presence and local events. Community refrigerators known as “freedges” will be positioned in busy locations to facilitate the distribution of excess food to people in need.

Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Zepto, and Big Basket food delivery riders are part of the system and have the authority to drop off canceled orders or extra food at specified pickup locations. These locations have been carefully chosen to be close to supermarkets, dining establishments, and busy places like corporate parks and residential communities.

The initiative hopes to promote a sharing and responsible culture by collaborating with the Robin Hood Army, a group that repurposes food to feed the destitute.

The campaign’s dedication to community involvement and significant change is demonstrated by creative projects like food collection drives in Mumbai and aspirational goals for wider development. The goals are clear: to increase access to wholesome meals, decrease food waste, and foster a giving mindset.

In order to guarantee that kids like Pintu have access to meals and that no food is wasted, The Indian Express urges everyone to support this admirable cause.
