The Congress has said whatever India achieves in its talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for India-specific safeguards will be the “most reasonable” for the country.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi welcomed the softening of the stand of the SP and BJD on the nuclear deal saying the Government’s endeavour to take all people on board “can legitimately lead to some changes of stand. It is good that some people are inclined to support”.
Meanwhile, CPI re-iterated on Thursday that the party remained opposed to the deal. “It seems the Government has no intention of taking a sense of the House. The debate on Wednesday also made it clear that the Government had no majority in the House (for the deal),” CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said at a press conference.
