A 44-year-old woman from Kerala, suspected to be mentally challenged, has been arrested by the Bangalore police for trespassing into the restricted Indian Space Research Organisation campus (ISRO). The woman identified as Buela Sam was detained by CISF officials at the ISRO headquarters at the Antariksh Bhavan.

Sam,who has been living in Ahmedabad, recently attended her father’s funeral in Kollam, the police said. Her husband Alex,a school teacher, alleged that Sam was mentally unwell.

The woman is reported to have gained entry to an ISRO guest house in east Bangalore with a fake identity card three days ago.

She then turned up at the ISRO headquarters in north Bangalore on September 21 inquiring about a conference that was to be held at a later date.

Sam has been booked for forgery, cheating and breach of contract.

“It is a matter of investigation whether she is mentally deranged and why she was at ISRO,’’ Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishna Bhat said.

ISRO has initiated its own probe to find out how the woman was granted access to its guest house.
