With NGO help,cops rescue Patna siblings from self-isolation

A voluntary group rescued two siblings,Babu,28,and his sister Sujata Singh,32,suffering from depression and self-isolation.

A voluntary group rescued two siblings,Babu,28,and his sister Sujata Singh,32,suffering from depression and self-isolation,late on Monday here.

The siblings had cut themselves off from rest of world at their house for about two years after their father Brij Kishore Singh and mother Godavari Devi left the house one after another,and their younger brother died.

The siblings,who had been without any medical attention,were malnourished. While Babu had been suffering from schizophrenia for close to 15 years,Sujata also suffered from acute depression for three years.

Sujata,who worked as a reporter in a Hindi daily at Patna eight years ago,left her job to take care of Babu.

A team from an NGO,Prayas,rescued the siblings with help from Patna police on Monday. While Babu has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital,Sujata has been kept at Hitaishi Happy Home,a rehabilitation centre.
