In another setback to expelled SP leader Amar Singh,his associate and party MLA Abu Asim Azmi has decided against casting his lot with his mentor.
I will stay with the party. I will work under the leadership of SP and (party chief) Mulayam Singh, said Azmi. He,however,added that he continued to have good relations with Amar Singh.
Amar had campaigned for Azmis son Farhan in the byelections to Bhiwandi East constituency despite his friction with SP. Farhan,however,lost the byelection.
When I entered politics,I decided that I would work under the leadership of Mulayam Singh, said Azmi,adding that he had never changed parties in his political career.
However,Azmis associates pointed out that joining hands with Amar Singh would make little sense in case he decided to have a truck with the Congress or the NCP with whom the SP is competing for the north Indian and minority votes.
