UP: Woman ‘gangraped’ in police station

A sub-inspector and a village chowkidar allegedly raped a woman in a room on Khadda police station campus in Kushinagar district

A sub-inspector (S-i) and a village chowkidar allegedly raped a woman in a room on Khadda police station campus in Kushinagar district.

The incident took place on July 17,but the case of rape was registered on Monday as the policemen did not act on the complaint given by the woman.

The accused are yet to be arrested.

Gorakhpur Zone IG Bhawesh Kumar Singh said that five policemen,including the then Station Officer and the rape accused,have been suspended and police teams are conducting raids to arrest the S-I and the chowkidar.

The room was allotted to accused S-I Virendra Kumar,who has been on leave since July 20. The S-I and chowkidar Vijay Verma are untraceable,the IG added.
