An Uttar Pradesh-based advocate has filed a petition in a Bulandshahr court,demanding legal action against Chand Mohammed and his second wife Fiza for “hurting religious sentiments”. The petition has been admitted and is listed for hearing in the court of Additional District Judge Hetram Saini on April 20.

Advocate Pawan Kumar Gaur has said: “The two have committed an offence under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code. The provision clearly states that ‘whoever,with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class of citizens of India… insults or attempts to insult the religious beliefs of that class,shall be punished with imprisonment of three years or with fine or both’.”
