On Monday,a youth was killed in an IED blast supposedly carried out by rebels at Nongpok Keithelmanbi village in Thoubal district. Over the past week, the Manipur police have been recovering grenades and small arms like Chinese pistols from different areas of the valley.
The police suspect that the recent spurt of violence has to do with the upcoming gram panchayat polls. However, the site of Wednesdays explosion does not fall under the municipality area.
