An autopsy has found traces of poison and alcohol in the stomach of Fiza alias Anuradha Bali, the estranged second wife of former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan whose decomposed body was found at her Mohali house on August 6.
Doctors at Punjab State Chemical Laboratory at Kharar, who conducted her viscera examination, confirmed that Fizas body contained traces of aluminium phosphide,a deadly poison and fumigant commonly known as Sulphas,as well as ethyl alcohol.
Dr Paminder Singh Bhatti of the Civil Hospital,Kharar, who conducted Fizas autopsy, said the cause of her death was aluminium phosphide, just half a tablet of which can cause death.
He added that the poison looses its deadliness if mixed with alcohol or food. Interestingly, experts had not found traces of poison in the samples of liquor, soda, water and eatables collected from Fizas residence.
In 99 percent of cases in which Sulphas is found in the body, another doctor said, the person had consumed it to commit suicide. If Fiza was forced to consume the poison there would have had been injury marks on her body, but as per the examination there are none, the doctor said.
The viscera report will be sent to the Mohali Police, who are probing the case,on Monday.
