Five persons including the correspondent of a private school were arrested after the state government and the Madras High Court

Five persons including the correspondent of a private school were arrested on Thursday after the state government and the Madras High Court took a stern view on the tragic accident in which a Class II student died after she fell through a hole in the school bus floor on Wednesday.

The transport officials had given fitness clearance for the bus three weeks ago despite it having the hole in the floor.

The police arrested the correspondent of the Zion Matriculation School,N Vijayan,the owner of the travels company contracted by the school,Yogeshwaran,bus driver MB Seeman,cleaner Shanmugam and P Rajasekaran,a grade – I motor vehicle inspector with the RTO Office,Tambaram. The First Bench of the Madras HC took suo motu cognizance of the matter and directed State Transport department officials to appear before it on Friday.
