The fifth and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections is yet to take place but the BJP has already initiated moves to woo potential allies into the NDA fold.

Sources have confirmed that the BJP leadership, including prime ministerial candidate L K Advani, invited TRS chief Chandrashekar Rao to an NDA rally in Ludhiana on Sunday.

Rao,whose TRS is part of the TDP-led Grand Alliance in Andhra Pradesh which also includes the Left parties, has reached New Delhi to hold talks but is yet to make up his mind.

TRS was part of the UPA until it withdrew support, maintaining that the UPA was not in a mood to give the nod for separate state of Telangana. It has now joined the Grand Alliance, the Mahakutami, which wants to dethrone the Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

The NDA rally in Punjab, the last before campaigning ends on Monday,is being planned by the BJP leadership to showcase the alliance as the “winning” combination, days after the Congress reached out to BJP allies like the JD(U).

Besides L K Advani,Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi, others who will be present at the rally are Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar of the JD(U),Ajit Singh of RLD,Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena and Bimal Gurung of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha. The SAD,which will organise the rally, will be represented by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
