Raajneeti is into its third week in the cinema theatres of Bhopal not a mean achievement for any film these days. While the film has won accolades from both critics and movie buffs, there is a very strong reason why exhibitors have still stuck to it in Bhopal, where the film was shot. Local actors and their families and relatives formed a major chunk of audience in the initial days. The joy of identifying oneself and the familiar faces on the screen, besides spotting known locations was a massive pull. Given that the political thriller involved scenes of rallies and group meetings, several people had an opportunity to act. The residents of the state capital can now boast that they have acted along with Arjun Rampal,Manoj Bajpai,Nana Patekar,Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor.

The public outrage over the Bhopal gas tragedy case verdict gave several people who were living in near anonymity an opportunity to hog the limelight. Several retired bureaucrats and politicians whom the media had stopped bothering long ago found themselves in demand. Television camera vigorously pursued anybody who could say anything about the escape of Warren Anderson. The then collector Moti Singh who began it all by describing how he was acting on the instructions of the then chief secretary found to his dismay that the tide had suddenly turned against him. Retired bureaucrats and his seniors targeted him for committing an illegality, forcing Singh to go into shell.
