There is something about sticking to what you do best. A musician who explores different genres or styles of music might walk away with the accolades, but a musician who tirelessly churns out one hit after the other, all tailor-made to thrill his loyal fan-base,also deserves a round of applause. William Adams, better known as Will.i.am,falls in the latter category.
Will.i.am is know for his pulsating tracks that send his fans into a tizzy on the dance floor. His latest album #Willpower is no different. The album was originally titled Black Einstein and was supposed to release by the end of 2011. After several delays,Will.i.am is back with his fourth studio album with loads of spunk and interesting collaborations such as Dutch singer-songwriter Eva Simons,Britney Spears,Justin Bieber,Lil Wayne,Hit-Boy,Diddy,Waka Flocka Flame,Juicy J,Chris Brown,Miley Cyrus,Skylar Grey,Nicole Scherzinger,Baby Kaely,apl.de.ap and the Korean pop group 2NE1.
#Willpower opens with the track Good morning,a minimalist, anthemic track that is followed by Hello,a pulsating electro-funk number with the lines,I dont want to be alone tonight,Ill be rocking with you. The next track,This is love,is a collaboration with Eva Simons,a Guetta-esque number with cutting-edge beats. While #thatPOWER is a duet with teen icon Justin Bieber with a trippy synth motif,Scream & Shout, featuring 90s pop icon Britney Spears,is our guilty pleasure,a club anthem designed to make the dance floor come alive. The wittiest track on the album is Ghetto ghetto, where rapping toddler Baby Kaely explains the root cause of youth crime and conflict as she sings,I want to be whats on TV/ And if thats wrong, please dont blame me.
With 15 tracks on the album along with three bonus tracks in the deluxe edition (watch out for Smile Mona Lisa,a sweet number in which Will.i.am croons to a steady singly guitar riff),#Willpower has enough meat to last an entire party. We definitely recommend it for your next college party.
