A day after he publicly criticised the government,Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and industry heads exchanged notes on how the UPA could offer a decisive yet collaborative style of leadership if voted back to power.
According to sources,Rahul was especially keen to get inputs on the leadership style the next government should adopt. The consensus was that it should be a decisive leadership several participants pointed out that the policy paralysis that has hurt the economy is partly because of the lack of a clear command.
It was a frank and no-holds-barred discussion, said a source.
Among those present at the meeting were Axis Bank CEO Shikha Sharma,Bengal Ambuja Housing Development Ltd MD Harshvardhan Neotia,Sanjeev Goenka,chairman of RP-Sanjeev Goenka group,and former Hindustan Unilever CEO Nitin Paranjpe.
Rahul is learnt to have sought their views on his pet themes,including ways to push for financial inclusion. The themes were very broad-brush,which is understandable, said the source. The other issue flagged was ways to revive the manufacturing sector.
