Shatrughan Sinha, father of the debutant Sonakshi, does a great round table in the extras disc of the just-out Dabangg DVD. It is a real love-in. Everyone around it,producer Arbaaz Khan, superstar Salman Khan, director Abhinav Kashyap, and the heroine, the self-same Sonakshi, has only nice things to say about each other (naturally),interspersed with some really mild spice (also naturally). Can a first-time director and leading lady dig their noses in front of the mightiest of the Khans?

Salman has been so anointed because Dabangg is by far the most successful film of the year, and the second highest Bollywood grosser ever (the first is 3 Idiots). Kashyap brought his script to Arbaaz who loved it so much that he wanted to produce it. Then Salman got involved. And so Chulbul Pandey, the by now legendary east UP cop,was born. So was Munni aka Malaika,co-producer of the film, who fell from a rickshaw while filming the riotous Badnaam item number (you can see the fall in the Making of Munni, which gets a whole segment to itself). Salman came across Sonakshi at a fashion show where she was an usher, and chose her (of course,he knew who she was before he saw her there,or at least that’s what he says) for his love interest.

While you are at it,you can also watch Dabangg for the unbridled antics of Salman Khan, now better known as Chulbul Pandey.
