A decade after the Army launched Operation Vijay to clear Pakistani intruders from the heights of Kargil,a special function is being planned by the Army to mark 10 years of the war that changed the way Indian military planners think and kicked off several reforms in the military setup.

While Operation Vijay was launched on May 26 in 1999,Kargil Diwas is held on July 26,when the operations were finally called off. Sources said that a function is being planned at the Northern Army headquarters in Udhampur on July 26 and is likely to be attended by Vice President Hamid Ansari besides the top Indian military leadership.
