With cricketing ties between India and Pakistan on the mend, the Opposition BJP Monday sought to know the status of the “terror team” of Hafiz Saeed, the alleged mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attack, which led to the breakdown of relations between the two countries.

“The issue is not about cricket,it is about ties with Pakistan. Pakistan cricket team had come to play in India during the world cup. But the core issue is not Misbah Eleven,it is Hafiz Saeed Eleven that perpetrated terror on Indian soil,” said BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, reacting to the BCCI’s decision to resume normal cricketing ties with Pakistan.

Hussain said the cricketing ties were broken off because of reasons outside of cricket and the government should not lose sight of that.

“The 26/11 terror attack was behind the disruption in cricketing ties. Pakistan had sent a terror eleven then. The terror team led by Hafiz Saeed must be brought to book. People want to see that the team of terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack is brought to justice,” Hussain said.

India and Pakistan have not met in a bilateral series since the 2008 attack though they played each other in the World Cup in 2011.
