Tata Motors Dec sales double; Honda,Toyota jump

The countrys largest auto maker Tata Motors on Saturday said its total sales during December last year more than doubled to 51,627 units,up from 25,219 vehicles sold in December 2008.

The auto majors total passenger vehicle sales and distribution in the domestic market recorded a 49 per cent jump at 14,654 units compared to 9,838 vehicles in December 2008,the company said in a statement.

The companys exports jumped 161 per cent at 3,454 vehicles in December last year compared to 1,325 vehicles in December 2008.

The company sold 3,610 units of the worlds cheapest car Nano in December.

Honda Siel Cars India reported 10.71 per cent rise in its sales at 4,061 units in December last year. The company had sold 3,668 units in the same month previous year,it said in a statement.

The December sales comprised 3,269 units of its flagship sedan City,269 units of hatchback Jazz,363 units of premium sedan Civic,113 units of luxury sedan Accord and 47 units of its sports utility vehicle CR-V,the company said.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Saturday said it has recorded a 107 per cent growth at 55,497 units in 2009,the highest sales for a calendar year.

The company has also recorded the highest monthly sales in December with a 221 per cent growth at 7,657 units,a company release said.
