Annoyed at not being allowed to go ahead on a road where a pre-marriage function was taking place,a man,Mukhtiar Singh,allegedly opened fire,killing a youth and injuring another one at Jatu Lohari village,on Saturday night.

Agitated villagers blocked the Bhiwani-Hansi road for five hours in the morning,demanding immediate arrest of Mukhtiar,younger brother of DSP Randhir Singh,and three others accompanying him at the time of the crime.

The road was opened only after City Magistrate Jagtar Singh,DSP Ramavatar and Tehsildar B D Bishnoi reached the spot and assured the villagers that the guilty would be arrested shortly.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Siwaj Kaviraj said an FIR has been lodged at Bhiwani Khera Police station against Mukhtiar Singh and three others,who fled from the spot immediately after shooting 15-year-old Sandeep Singh. The injured person,Jitu,has been shifted to PGI Hospital,Rohtak,where his condition is stated to be critical.

According to eyewitnesses,a pre-marriage ritual,Banvara,was going on on the road when Mukhtiar and his “friends” demanded that their vehicle be allowed to go ahead. He opened fired when the people around didn’t respond,killing Sandeep on the spot.
