Senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav today advised General V K Singh to not speak ‘too much’ as this could undermine the credibility of the Army.

He also said that when told about the alleged bribe offer,Defence Minister A K Antony should have taken action, the absence of which “leads to a situation like cover-up”.

“Everybody in the country has faith in the head of the Army. Speaking too much undermines the credibility of the Army Chief. We have seen it in our party how Amar Singh lost his credibility by speaking too much,” Yadav said during the Idea Exchange programme at The Indian Express today.

Yadav said Antony should have overruled the Army Chief over probing the bribe allegation. “I know the Raksha Mantri to be an honest person. But when the General said he did not intend to pursue the matter further, the Raksha Mantri should not have heeded it.”
