SPO killed in Malkangiri

Suspected Maoists on Sunday gunned down a Special Police Officer (SPO) and injured one in Malkangiri district of Orissa.

Suspected Maoists on Sunday gunned down a Special Police Officer (SPO) and injured one in Malkangiri district of Orissa. A group of extremists fired at the two SPOs in a local market at Padia,Malkangiri SP Akhilesh Singh said. The two police personnel returned fire,but SPO Ajit Sodi (22) was killed while his colleague Lachma Madkami was critically injured,he said.

The injured was admitted to a hospital. A combing operation has been launched to track down the culprits.

payment of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Sodi. The Chief Minister also assured that a family member of Sodi would get the job of an SPO.
