In what could be a sign of a rift between Amitabh Bachchan and Amar Singh, the expelled Samajwadi Party leader on Sunday took swipes at the superstars wife and SP Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan for staying back in a party that had humiliated him.
Jaya Bachchan has said that I should have maintained silence within the party (SP) and stayed back. But I believe in the famous lines of Amitabh Bachchans poet father … there is always a limit to suffer, there is also a limit to maintain silence. Even Amitabh Bachchan did not take it down (when his name was dragged in the Bofors scandal) and quit from Congress, Amar Singh said addressing a gathering at the Kshatriya Mahakumbh here.
Jaya Bachchan was reported to have said that she feels my absence in the party. I want to tell her that her brother-in-law has been humiliated (by the SP), he said, referring to himself. Amar Singh is known for referring to himself as Amitabhs younger brother and a part of the Bachchan family.
At the rally,Amar Singh made it clear that he did not quite appreciate Jaya Bachchan, who was brought into politics by him,for siding with SP chief Mulayam Singh and not raising a banner of revolt like Jaya Prada, another of his protégé,in the party.
Today you (Jaya) hear it from me,your brother-in-law has been humiliated and here on the stage there are Jaya Prada and Manoj Tiwari along with me,but not you. Even I feel your absence, Amar Singh said.
With Jaya Bachchan choosing to avoid siding with Amar Singh and retaining her association with SP,the expelled SP leader distancing himself from the Bachchan family holds significance in view of the fact that he has been praising Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in his utterances over the past one month.
He also made it clear that Jaya Bachchans presence in SP should not be construed as his window for return to the party and asserted that he would not look back at SP in future.
