Spanish woman testifies from Berlin,identifies ‘rapist’

A Spanish national,who was allegedly raped in November last year while she was in the city,on Thursday identified the accused while deposing before a sessions court through video-link.

The deposition,which was conducted in-camera,lasted nearly an-hour-and-a-half,according to special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The victim,who was present at the Indian consulate in Berlin,described the incident in detail,supporting the prosecution’s theory.

The victim,who had rented a house at Bandra,was allegedly raped by Anwar Mohammed Ansari (28),a resident of Wadala. The victim told the court she was raped on a knife point by Ansari,who also committed robbery in her flat. The victim also identified items that were seized from the crime scene and had been included as material evidence in the case. Composed through the proceedings,the victim answered all the questions asked by the prosecution and the defence lawyers. “We concluded her testimony,” said Nikam.
