A criminal case was registered against a Samajwadi Party MLA for allegedly barging into a Reserve Police Lines inspectors office along with his supporters and entering into a scuffle with the policemen on Tuesday evening.
Rakesh Kumar Singh,the MLA from Charra in Aligarh,and his men also allegedly took away a video camera from a policeman while he was shooting the incident. Inspector Sabil Haider lodged an FIR on charges of dacoity and causing obstruction in discharge of government duty against the MLA and over 25 of his unidentified associates.
ADG (Law & Order) Arun Kumar said the MLA reportedly had issues with the frequent changes of police gunmen deputed for his security and had a heated exchange with Inspector Haider.
The gunmen,Haider said,had to be changed,as the MLA allegedly forced them to do household work. The gunmen therefore,used to request for change of duty,Haider said. On Tuesday,the MLA reportedly called up the inspector and alleged that the gunmen were disrespectful. Haider assured him that an explanation will be sought.
