The Ahmedabad police on Wednesday took self-styled godman Asaram first to Sola Civil Hospital for a check up and then to the main Civil Hospital for a potency test.
Asaram had earlier undergone potency test after a Jodhpur girl alleged that he had sexually assaulted her. Asaram reportedly told the police that hes been a celibate for more than 10 years now.
Sources in SIT,which is probing the Surat sisters sexual assault case,said that after a long discussion over the issue it was decided that a potency test should be performed to prove that he ‘can indulge in sexual acts. A team from the Anti Terrorist Squad headquarters,where Asaram is being interrogated,took him to the hospital in a police convoy.
Sources said that unlike his refusal for the test in Jodhpur,Asaram did not refuse to go through it in Ahmedabad. An officer said,He agreed as soon as he was asked to go through it. A test doesnt guarantee intentions or actions,he told us. According to the police,Asaram,who claimed to be practising celibacy for the last one decade,passed the test in Jodhpur without stimulants. In Ahmedabad,it was decided that he would be first tested without stimulants and if he failed,doctors would put him under doppler ultrasound and collect his semen samples.
The doctors in Jodhpur in their report had stated that Asaram is not impotent; however,the test was required to be conducted in this case too,sources in the SIT said.
The tests report is expected within 48 hours and it would help the police get medical evidence against Asaram in this case.
