SC notice to Centre on plea against SIMI ban

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Centre on a petition challenging the constitutional validity of provisions in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,1967 that allows banning of associations like the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). A three-judge Bench of Justices R M Lodha,H L Gokhale and Ranjan Gogoi sought the response from the government in 10 weeks.
