Senior BJP leader Sanjay Joshi is likely to be made party general secretary after Gujarat elections or Nitin Gadkari’s anointment as party president for the second term, sources said.

“Joshi continues to be in the BJP as against the media news that he has quit the party. And in view of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s staunch opposition to him,the party has taken the decision to keep him away for a while,” a party insider said. “But it is not true that he is being seen as dispensable. In fact,he may be made general secretary after December,” he said.

Joshi, meanwhile, has returned to his native Nagpur city and was seen at the concluding ceremony of the third-year officers’ training camp (OTC) of the RSS on Monday.

He also met senior RSS ideologue M G Vaidya at his residence.

Vaidya said,“He (Joshi) is an old acquaintance and always comes to see me whenever he is here. There is no need to draw any special meaning out of this visit.”

RSS sources, however, said,“Joshi will have to wait till December,by which time the process of Gadkari taking over for second consecutive term and Gujarat elections get over. Something can be done thereafter.”
