As India granted consular access on daily basis to Pakistan officials to visit Sanaullah Ranjay,doctors attending on the Pakistani prisoner at the Chandigarh hospital on Saturday said he is in deep coma.
In the evening,a medical update prepared by Dr S N Mathuriya,head of Neurosurgery,PGIMER Hospital,said,Sanaullah continues to be critically sick. His neurological condition continues to be same as yesterday,he is in deep coma and on ventilator.
Earlier in the day,the doctors also briefed a team of Pakistani diplomats who visited the hospital. According to the Pakistan High Commission,The officials met doctors and they were informed that Sanaullahs condition remains very critical…. Given the severity of head injuries prognosis remained grim.
Abrar Hashmi,who was among the Pakistani officials who visited the hospital,told The Sunday Express,We met Sanaullah and found that his condition is very critical. We would appreciate if he is allowed to be taken back to Pakistan for treatment.
Another member of Pakistani team said,We asked if he can be taken back to Pakistan,but the doctors turned down the request. They saidSanaullah cannot be even shifted to another room. The doctors have been co-operative and we feel he is being given the best treatment.
Sanauallah was injured after a fellow inmate,Vinod Kumar,assaulted him with bricks and shovel in Jammus Kot Bhalwal jail on Friday.
MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said in Delhi,We have given Pakistan High Commission officials consular access on daily basis. They can visit Sanaullah once in a day. They will also be briefed twice a day on the condition of the prisoner.
Earlier in the day,around 3 am,a team of Pakistan High Commission officials met Sanaullah at the hospital. The doctors have given a very pessimistic prognosis of Sanaullahs recovery or survival and rule out prospects of his medical evacuation, Pakistan High Commissioner Press officer said early Saturday. Pakistan High Commissioner officers are in Chandigarh and are maintaining contact with the doctors.
The medical condition shows that Sanaullah was subjected to multiple brutal assaults of unspeakable savagery in the Jammu Jail,which is a matter of deep concern, he said.
Sarabjit attack: 3 Pak officials suspended
LAHORE: Pakistani authorities have suspended three senior prison officials in connection with the attack on Sarabjit Singh. The Home Secretary of Punjab suspended them for alleged negligence that led to the brutal attack on Sarabjit in Kot Lakhpat Jail. The three officials are Jail Superintendent Mohsin Rafique,Additional Superintendent Ishtiaq Gill and Deputy Superintendent Ghulam Sarwar Sumra. PTI
