The car, which was at the centre of an ugly controversy over taxes, has been bought by city builder Jayesh Desai, who drove it himself from Sachins home in Bandra,Mumbai,to his renovated garage in Surats City Lights Society.
It is a dream come true, Desai said. I was eager to have this Ferrari and put my request before Sachin a month ago. We are pals, and we often talk at length. He finally agreed to sell it to me.
Obviously smitten by his new toy,Desai said the firing of the car is so sweet that I can listen to it for hours. He added that its a valuable car,but its also a matter of pride to own it.
Fiat announced the gift of the car to Sachin after he equalled Don Bradmans record of 29 Test centuries in 2002. Schumacher, who then drove for the Ferrari F1 team, presented him the keys on the eve of the British GP in July 2002.
