The Rajya Sabha on Monday witnessed an uproar over the incident of stripping of a woman in Patna with members of the RJD and the JD(U) arguing over the law and order situation in Bihar.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour,RJD’s Rajniti Prasad said the incident was “shameful”. “The woman was pulled out of a hotel in the presence of the traffic police. She was stripped and paraded on the road,” he alleged. Several MPs,including CPM’s Brinda Karat, shouted “shame, shame” at the mention of this incident.
Blaming the Nitish Kumar government for the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state,Prasad said the JD(U) used to describe the previous government headed by Lalu Prasad as “jungle raj”.
Rajniti Prasad’s mention of the incident was countered by protests from JD(U) MP Shivanand Tiwari,BJP’s C P Thakur and Rajiv Pratap Rudy. While Tiwari was irked at the mention of Nitish Kumar’s name,Rudy said that 40 police officials had been transferred in Patna after the incident.
